God and dogs
I want to love God as much as my dogs love me. I think Professor spent 12 hours on my lap yesterday. He gazed up at me adoringly. He wanted my constant attention. Anywhere I went, he followed me, not wanting to miss a thing. He waited patiently for me. He just hung out in my presence and that was enough. He tries so hard to please me and when he messes up, he begs for forgiveness with his little pleading eyes and then lets it go and moves on. Rex matches his mood to mine no matter what. He watches me and follows me everywhere. He is concerned when I'm upset. He likes to play with me but mostly just hang out with me. He loves me unquestionably and faithfully, consistently. And I forgive them again and again and love them with all my heart.

more random thoughts
I just made myself a blueberry smoothie (oj, vanilla yogurt, blueberries--a whole thing of them!) and it is scrumptious. I've been cooking more lately, experimenting. I organized all my coupons and then Saturdays Scott and I choose the ones we want to try that week then I shop for all the stuff. Still spend less on goroceries than before! Yesterday I made crock pot chicken taco chili with black beans and chili beans and rotel and shredded chicken, etc. I wasn't that excited about it but it was good. Healthy. Had a second bowl. I also made some sort of Texas stew last week. Adelle and I made homemade pizza yesterday, but I've made that before. I made chicen tortilla soup the week before but I've also made that before too. Scott chose that one. One week I made spinach fettucini alfredo--yummy! And some casseroles. Nothing like a good casserole. Just gonnna eat leftovers today then Scott picked some taco frito pie thing that has crescent rolls in it for tomorrow--probably a bit fattening. We'll eat late, too, cause if we have school, I am going to my classes tomorrow--bosu and step plus. Then Thursday there's a new yoga class followed by zumba. Last week we had so many sweaty people in zumba that we fogged up the entire room's mirrors! My water aerobics class is canceled for tonight. Bummer. Its just a little blizzard!
Its almost time to start reading for today. Read a Cornelia Read book yesterday--Crazy School--and started another book but it is too nasty so I'm not finishing it. Caught up reading Shari's blog. Only two more books in the house I haven't read! I have a book downloaded to my ipod for the beach and 6 more on my little computer to read on the cruise! I splurged. I'm gonna splurge on a pedicure for the cruise, too, but that's it, I swear!

Randomness
Just random unconnected thoughts today....
I'm getting ready for my cruise next week! It makes the snow much more tolerable to know I will be in warm sunshine next week. A little hard to imagine getting into a swimsuit, though. I'm a tad white:).
Didn't go to my favorite classes yesterday--fit ball and advanced step because I thought the driveway was icy but Scott had salted it and it was perfectly clear! I did go out and clear the car and work out on my own last evening, though. Then today went to step class. Now the snow is blowing like crazy. I like being home but I hope I don't get bored again as I was a bit yesterday.
Got up in the night and put sweaters on the dogs. Poor babies. At one point realized Professor had thrown up and the strange noise I heard was him eating it! Yuck! The whole comforter is in the washer right now.
Today as I did my quiet time, Rex claimed my lap and wasn't giving it up. PRofessor wanted it so badly he sat ON Rex for quite a while. Funny. Also funny watching Professor try to poop while his back legs slid around on the ice.
Scott fought a fire in the night so napped quite a bit of yesterday. I hope he doesn't have to fight any fires or do anything else outdoors today while at the station. He is thinking about a degree in elementary ed. He'd make a great teacher, I just hope he likes it and that he feels called so God will provide all he needs.
Hannah said she doesn't feel well. Poor baby. Her cold and snow there makes ours look wimpy.
Two snow days in a row, then back to work for wed, thurs and fri, then last minute stuff on saturday to get ready, adelle, maybe the morning workout too, then leave sunday for miami and cruise on monday! Hope mom stays healthy and this cruise is all she dreams it to be.

oh what the heck
I was reading some of my old blogs and decided to write one. I keep waiting for an exciting something to write about and nothing exciting happens. But its all good--lots of good things happen, I guess. Yesterday, Friday, we actually worked a full day after having a snow day Thursday and half a snow day Wednesday. Well, I didn't have snow day Wednesday as I was waiting all day at the surgery center for Scott to get done with his knee surgery. It was an adventure driving in the insane snow then shoveling the walk to get him in the house. He's much better now. Anyway, Friday, got feeling kind of yucky with this cold but did it keep me from working out? No! I did skip body jam and then worked extra hard in step plus. I also sat in the sauna afterwards to sweat out the yuck and it was awesome. There were tons of people in there to talk to so the time went fast. Took a shower then went to Chipotle with Scott--of course--it was Friday night! Also went to blockbuster for some movies and watched Dispicable Me. It was kinda cute, I guess. Slept til about 8:30 this morning and had my quiet time. Joyce was about 6 things to do with your mouth--really hit home--need to be nicer to my husband and be a better listener. Cleaned and did some laundry then made a grocery list, went to Target, Dillons and Walgreens and came home and felt poopy. Ate some leftover homemade mongolian beef, yummy, then went to get Adelle. Forgot! I also talked on the phone to Hannah, Mom AND Joel! Then got Adelle. I guess she missed me because she talked DURING the songs, not just the commercials. She told me all about her show this week. I wonder how many other people have a clue what she is talking about when she talks about Around the Horn. We went to the library where I got a pile of new books to read and Adelle looked through the latest sports almanac. Then we went to the gym. I got Adelle started on the treadmill and I was on the second weight machine when she said she was ready to go back to my house. Yippee. So I stalled her and she got on a bike while I finished the machines. I got on a bike and she read espn magazine and waited. I felt like poop. My back hurt from shoveling the driveway and my throat hurt breathing in so I quit. We went to the house and Adelle immediately ran down to the basement to look at music videos. I guess that makes her a totally normal teenager, huh? I talked on the phone to my mom and rested my back. Then we made a burger meal and texted my friend Jesi, who came over and ate with us! Scott and Jesi and I chatted and Adelle ate her two burgers then went back to the computer. Adelle and I made pumpkin muffins and we waited for them to bake then Jesi rode with me to take Adelle home. We stopped by Jesi's apartment and got her cute dog. Rex went insane over the dog so Jesi didn't stay long. Then I spent the evening on facebook while Scott talked soccer on the phone (he's probably logged hundreds of hours on the phone about soccer this week as he gets ready for the new season.) Be sure to check out the website JunctionCitySoccer.com/girls if Scott hasn't already invited you to look at it through facebook. I think we are going to watch other movie. I need some diet sprite. Peace out.

Lovely Weekend
My weekend started Friday. Scott was at the fire department for the last time for several weeks since he's having his knee surgery this week. I got off work, took a quick nap and went to the gym. Started with Body Jam--yes, I danced to hip hop! Then the usual step and chisel class. Sat in the sauna just briefly because I had a skype date with Joel! We don't let a few hundred miles stop our Friday night Chipotle tradition. Joel is doing well other than a cold, playing lots of board games with friends, enjoying his semester classes and playing video games in his room on his new tv. When we were done, I showered and put on my pajamas and read in bed. I am reading a second Jeannette Walls novel and its good. Saturday morning had my quiet time and cleaned and got ready for our house guests--Leah and her boyfriend David. Went with Scott to the KSU men's game (boring)then dragged him to the grocery store. I am trying to make nice meals that are a little more inventive since I have no picky eaters in the house and Scott doesn't care. One day this week I was in hurry because I wanted to go the the high school and watch the special populations talent show so I fixed outmeal and put blueberries in it. Scott didn't say a word, he just ate it. So this week I am making mongolian beef, turkey tosadas, salmon, and fettucini with spinach. This weekend I organized my recipes--threw out ones I will never make, copied ones from paper onto nice index cards, sorted them out. I plan to cook my way through them. At four, we left for Topeka to meet Leah and David, my brother and his whole family, Julie and Larry, and my mom, to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday! It was very enjoyable. We ate at Olive Garden. Came back home and played monopoly with Leah and David. I was losing terribly so I worked on my recipes and went to bed early. They stayed up late. Sunday morning skipped church and made a nice apple and raisin coffee cake that was sort of more like apple crisp and did my quiet time until the kids got up. I enjoy having coffee with Lele in the morning. We toodled around and went to Target where I bought three ruffly shirts and a bohemian dress. I didn't even know I needed a little pick me up to my wardrobe but I guess I did because I am excited! The girls wear little ruffly blouses under sweaters with jeans or whatever pants so I will too! Leah and I went to R and R and I bought back a leather jacket I used to own and left in the mall one of the prom nights. Glad to have it back! Leah found some cheap dresses at a store going out of business that she was thrilled about! We came home and I fixed chicken and rice (nothing new, just home cookin for my college girl) and talked more and then they went back to Newton. It was too late for Bible Study so we watched TV and read together. I like hanging out with my Scotty. Today I will get Adelle then go to the gym for fit ball and advanced step. Hope my back and arch hold out. Tomorrow I go back to work, then my water aerobics class starts! Wednesday I am off for Scott's surgery but the girls are coming over for supervision. It will be fun if they bring their babies! Then work Thursday and Friday and another weekend. I'm sure it will also be lovely.

Beautiful days
I am so grateful for so many things today. Yesterday very early in the morning we said goodbye to Joel. He has so many wonderful friends. They stood in the driveway and sang silly goodbye songs to him! I was so relieved to hear Scott and Zeb pull back into the driveway after the adventure of getting to the airport and back through snow, carsickness, and sadness seeing Joel off. Then when I awoke, found my livingroom had been transformed back from a disgusting dorm room complete with stink, slop, trash, pizza, etc. to a lovely livingroom. Scott had cleaned it up before he fell asleep. I kept busy yesterday, going to churh, time with Adelle, and a few chores, that I didn't experience the crazy grief I felt when the girls left. God showed me through that that its ok to share my emotions with Him, even ones that I don't think I should feel. I let go this time and let myself be sad if I needed to be. I clung to the Word and His promises and replaced every sad thought with a happy one. Joel made all his connections and the shuttle and got back to USC without any problems. I took a nap and then Scott and I had some time together then went to Bible study then the gym to work out and sit in the sauna. My Bible study friends are so awesome. We can share our true hearts and selves with them. And did I mention that I went to the library and got a stack of great books to read? I slept good las night and found out we have a snow day off school! I went back to sleep til 8:30. I am loving my quiet time on the couch with both doggies curled up next to me. I watched two episodes of Joyce Meyer and prayed thoroughly for my family, once again releasing the kids into God's very capable hands. I am grateful for all and am looking forward to the rest of this glorious day with anticipation and joy.

Open House at the gym
Got up this morning, ate breakfast, stopped by the bank, and went to the gym for open house! I got on the gravity machine first thing which I love. It was such hard work, mostly lower body. Check out the schedule and did a bosu class for half an hour--intervals. Loved it! It was crowded but fun. Took a break and had a protein shake sample. Asked a gal if she could show me the machines and she did. I'm excited to be able to use them to work out when Scott and I go when there aren't classes. Then I tried a new class--body jam. It was a dance class much like zumba but to electric, hip hop and rock. I wasn't into it but still enjoyed it. Think I'll try it again on Fridays. Saw some snacks on the way out and resisted the sweet breads but had some yogurt, fruit and granola.
Headed home and did some cleaning. Joel leaves in 4 hours for LA. I'm concerned about the trip to and from the airport due to the snow that is coming. I don't feel too sad yet and have plans to stay busy this week. Hannah got to Laramie ok.
